Faith in the
Midst of a Pandemic
A series of

Week Twenty –
Thursday 30 July 2020
“When this is
over”
“When this is
over, may we never
again take for
granted
A handshake with a
stranger
Full shelves at
the store
Conversations with
neighbors
A crowded theater
Friday night out
The taste of
Communion
A routine checkup
The school rush
each morning
Coffee with a
friend
The stadium
roaring
Each deep breath
A boring Tuesday
Life itself.
When this ends
may we find
that we have
become
more like the
people
we wanted to be
we were called to
be
we hoped to be
and may we stay
that way – better
for each other
because of the worst.”
- A poem written
in response to the coronavirus by Laura Fanucci, writer and theologian.
Reflective question: In what ways are you
intentionally planning on being better “for each other because of the worst,”
when this pandemic is over?
Reflective Scripture: 2 Peter 3:18 – “But
grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Reflective hymn:
“More About Jesus” – Eliza Hewitt (1851-1920)
More about Jesus would I know, more of His grace to
others show,
More of His saving fullness see, more of His love who
died for me.
